Discovery, Translation and Public Good - Pathway to Eliminating Vision Impairment

The day firstly offers a glimpse of the future of eye care, the latest discoveries in vision research and the opportunities for translation. Following this, global authorities on public health and vision care will shine a light on the pathway to eliminating avoidable blindness and vision impairment.

kidBrien Holden has a lifetime of achievement, inspiring innovation and industry. To celebrate his remarkable contributions, the Institute for Eye Research will host the first Brien Holden Lecture Series on Friday, 26 March, 2010.

A wide range of topics will be addressed in the lecture series, informing participants on the latest research, industry news and humanitarian issues in vision correction, ocular health and eye care.

The lecture series will be opened by Professor Fred Hilmer OAM, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of New South Wales, followed by nine speakers working at the cutting edge of vision research and public health for eye care from across the world Brien Holden’s contribution to vision research and public health is now a global success story.

A founder of more than ten research and humanitarian organisations, he has been an inspiration for three decades and received international acclaim. Simply put, Brien Holden is a man with uncommon vision.

The Institute for Eye Research welcomes you to celebrate an extraordinary life of achievements at the inaugural Brien Holden Lecture Series.
